HELP FOR BLENDED FAMILIES

The Center's new project for blended families is
underway. We are currently interviewing adult
members of blended (step)families for possible
inclusion in a book-length study of the best
practices of healthy blended families.

To be considered for an interview, please contact
the Dr. Brandon Miller for more information:

With over 1,300 stepfamilies being formed daily,
the blended family model has already replaced
the nuclear biological family as the dominant
family form in the U.S. Blended families have
been called
"the family of the new millenium"
and with over 50 percent of US family groups
now in this category, the label is accurate.

The Center provides teaching, training, and
counseling resources for workshops, seminars,
and retreats for blended families. Venues include
outdoor camp and retreat centers, large church
campuses, and community centers. Growing in
popularity during these early years of the new
century,
Blended family retreats can involve
teaching and learning times for all ages, with
adult programming, youth and adolescent
sessions, and children's groups, all themed to
the special challenges of building a new family.

Blended families dissolve and end at a faster rate
than biological families. Because of this reality,
the Center is studying and learning from the
healthy habits and best practices of North
American and European blended families.
The focus of this effort is to learn how to help
blended families survive and thrive: centered in a
healthy and growing marriage, with models of
effective stepparenting being explored.

The Center plans a publication release in late
2008 or early 2009, in connection with a major
publishing firm. For further information, watch
this column of the site or contact Dr. Miller at
the e-mail address listed above.
