Healthy Families, Strong Marriages, Great Kids

For more than two decades, The Center for Marriage & Family Studies has been at the forefront of social research, skill-based teaching, and practical help for today’s marriages and families. Through its best-selling books and its widely attended workshops, retreats, and seminars, the Center helps marriages grow stronger, parents become more successful, and families stay together for life.

To date the Center’s founding directors, Dr. David and Lisa Frisbie, have traveled to all 50 United States, 9 provinces and 2 territories of Canada, and more than 40 world nations, presenting their educational and inspirational workshops, retreats and seminars. Over the course of the past decade, Dr. and Mrs. Frisbie have trained hundreds of counselors, ministers and others in today’s best practices for family counseling and marriage therapy.

Widely consulted on social trends and family relationships in North America and beyond, Dr. and Mrs. Frisbie are frequently interviewed and quoted in print, broadcast and internet media. Their ten published books (with two more in press during 2010) and dozens of articles have been translated into many languages and are available on a global basis.

The Center has developed targeted resources for several specific categories of families, including the following special priorities: 1) Military marriages and families; 2) Clergy, NGO and missionary marriages and families; and 3) Remarriages, stepfamilies and blended families.

By strong personal preference and established precedent, Dr. and Mrs. Frisbie travel together, present seminars and workshops together, and counsel in tandem, offering dual perspectives on the challenges faced by clients. They maintain an active and international travel schedule to teach and train, and to respond to crisis situations that confront organizations and ministries.

Since the late 1980’s this busy, original-marriage couple (30-plus years together) has often been known as “America’s Remarriage Experts.” Their original workshop for couples in stepfamilies, known as “The Remarriage Journey” became the working template for their best-selling book “Happily Remarried” which is now in its fourth printing.

When not traveling, David and Lisa make their home in southern California.
