Life in the Blender
For more than two decades, the Center's staff have been at the forefront of learning about life in stepfamilies and blended families. Our two executive directors, Dr. David & Lisa Frisbie, are known as "America's Remarriage Experts" because of their extensive studies of families that are formed after divorce and remarriage.
Now in its third printing worldwide, the Center's book "Happily Remarried" (at right) is the definite guidebook for forming a healthy marriage at the heart of a blended family or stepfamily. In addition the book tackles tough questions like money management, discipline for children (yours, mine and ours), dealing with frustrating ex-partners, and more.

In Summer 2009 the Center completed a free, downloadable study guide for use when groups or individuals are studying "Happily Remarried."

With over 1,300 stepfamilies being formed daily, the blended family model has already replaced the nuclear biological family as the dominant family form in the U.S. Blended families have been called "the family of the new millenium" and with over 50 percent of US family groups now in this category, the label is accurate.
Blended families dissolve and end at a faster rate than biological families. Because of this reality, the Center is studying and learning from the healthy habits and best practices of North American and European blended families. The focus of this effort is to learn how to help blended families survive and thrive: centered in a healthy and growing marriage, with models of effective stepparenting being explored.
The Center's newest seminar is called "Life in the Blender" and has been sponsored by churches, community groups, and social service agencies. "Life in the Blender" teaches couples how to build a strong marriage relationship while also coping with challenging family dynamics.
Center directors Dr. David & Lisa Frisbie serve as facilitators for the seminar, which includes multimedia training tools, interactive handouts and extensive engagement with attenders.
